The RapidChange ATC magazine also offers an optional dust cover, providing a universal solution to the problem of dust and debris management. The dust cover boasts a low-profile design, making it suitable for even smaller desktop CNC machines with a clearance of 87mm when halfway through the opening process.
The operation of the dust cover is managed by two small stepper motors, featuring the “Easy Driver Stepper Motor Driver V44 A396.” The “Easy Driver” requires a 12V power supply. This option simplifies control as the dust cover stepper motors can be controlled as an axis, or alternatively, through an output on the controller to an external logic board, such as an Arduino Uno. We’re also actively developing our own logic board for this purpose.
While the dust cover significantly reduces dust buildup, it’s important to note that regular maintenance is recommended, particularly for cleaning collets and clamping nuts. As is the case with any ATC system, dust and fine particles can accumulate during machining.
